Hi, I’m Shawn Deats, owner of Deats English.

I came to Japan 8 years ago. People always ask me, what surprises you most about Japan?
To tell the truth, I have to say I am always most surprised that,
even though they study the subject hard for at least 6 years in school,
Japanese young people cannot speak English! In fact, often when I try to speak to someone in English,
they cannot respond with even a simple sentence.
It was because of this that I decided to establish Deats English.

Here at Deats English, you can have fun learning English and,
at the same time, get plenty of practice so that you can do what’s most important: ACTUALLY SPEAK ENGLISH!

私は約８年前に日本へ来ました。その頃から、そして今でもよく聞かれるのが、
日本へ来てびっくりしたことは何ですか？という質問です。

日本はとても教育熱心な国だと聞いていました。ですから、日本へ来て私が英語で誰かに話しかけた時、
ほとんどの場合、まったくと言ってよいほどコミュニケーションが取れなかったことに驚きました。

中学、高校と最低６年間は一生懸命に勉強されているのに、です。

そこで、なんとか日本の生徒さん達が英語で自由に会話ができるようになることができないかと思い、
この教室、ディーツイングリッシュを開きました。

ここでは、誰でも楽しみながら英語を学び、話せるようになるための練習をたくさん積んで、
英語で世界中の人とコミュニケーションが取れることを目指します。
